Also called two-factor authentication, this extra layer of security helps protect your personal information when logging in to MyChart from a new device or internet browser.

Step one is to log in to MyChart as usual with your username and password. For step two, you will be prompted to enter a verification code that is sent to you through a text message or email

This means that even if someone has your MyChart password, they will not be able to access your account without the code

When logging in for the first time on a new device (computer, smartphone or tablet) or a new internet browser (for example, Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge) you will be prompted to complete two-step verification.

After entering your username and password, you will choose either text message or email to receive the code. If you do not have a mobile phone number on file, your only option will be to receive the code through email.

After entering the code, you may click “Skip this step next time,” and you will not be asked to complete two-step verification again on that particular device or browser.

You can opt out of using two-step verification by changing your MyChart Security Settings.

If using the MyChart website:

1. Log into MyChart
2. Select Security Settings from the menu
3. Click on "Turn off two-step verification" button

If using the MyChart mobile app:

1. Log into MyChart
2. Select Account Settings from the menu
3. Toggle off the "Two-Step Verification" option
